Aakash Mudra, as the name recommends, balances the Aakash component in the body. In the event that the exacting significance of this mudra is seen, the sky implies vacancy or space and the mudra indicates motion or position. Accordingly, Aakash Mudra is the mudra that aids in soaking up Aakash's characteristics by associating with a person's inward world.

Aakash implies that open space which has no limits. It is expressed that a world inside a human being, and to dive into its profundities, an individual practices contemplation. As such, this mudra is additionally called Akash Shamak Mudra.

How to do Akash Mudra


  • For meditation or yoga practice, sit on a yoga mat or carpet in an open, airy, and quiet place. Sukhasana, Ardha Padmasana, or Vajrasana are considered the best postures for Akash Mudra.
  • Before practicing Akash Mudra, take a long deep breath, hold the breath in as far as possible, then release it out. In this way negative energy comes out of the body and meditation comes into the present.
  • Keep both hands straight on both knees and practice breathing five to seven times. After that let the breaths become normal then make sky posture.
  • The middle finger, that is, the big finger in the middle is the symbol of the sky element and the thumb is the symbol of the fire element. Therefore, for Akash Mudra, join the tip of the thumb with the tip of the middle finger. When the fire element and sky element meet, then there is a feeling of expansion like the sky. There is an increase in the sky element. Sound originates in the sky itself and through the ears, the sound goes inside us.
  • After meeting the thumb and middle finger, keep all the remaining fingers straight. Adding Shambhavi Mudra with Akash Mudra increases the results manifold.
  • Fold the tongue and attach it to the palate. Practice Akash Mudra in this position for at least 30 to 35 minutes before work.


Benefits of Akash Mudra


  • Emptiness ends with the expansion of the sky element. Emptiness, hollowness, and stupidity go away, and openness expands.
  • The hearing power of the ears increases and other ear diseases also go away. Like discharge of ears, tingling in ears, deafness of ears. For this apply this mudra for at least one hour daily.
  • Heart disease, all diseases related to the heart, and high blood pressure are also cured by the expansion of the sky element because the sky element is related to the heart.
  • The bones of the body become strong. Calcium deficiency goes away. Osteoporosis means bone loss goes away. For this, practice for one hour daily.
  • By doing Prithvi Mudra with the right hand and Akash Mudra with the left hand, joint pain is relieved.

Precautions while doing Akash Mudra

  • People with Vata nature should not do this pose, it can cause gas, dryness of skin, and arthritis.
